ESM appoints Cdric Crelo as communications director and chief spokesperson

(Luxembourg) – ESM has appointed Cédric Crelo as Head of Communications and Chief Spokesperson effective September 1, 2021.
Mr. Crelo is currently Head of the International Relations and Communication Department at the Banque centrale de Luxembourg, a position he has held since 2013. At the Central Bank, he has also held the positions of Personal Assistant to the Governor and Secretary of the Management Board, the Board and the Audit Committee. He also represents the Central Bank on the Economic and Financial Committee (EFC) of the European Commission, the International Relations Committee (IRC) of the European Central Bank and the Network of Central Banks and Supervisors for the Greening of the Financial System (NGFS) ). Mr. Crelo was also Luxembourg’s representative to the International Monetary Fund and the Asian Development Bank.

Mr. Crelo holds a master’s degree in international public policy from Johns Hopkins University (SAIS) in Washington DC, a master’s degree in European studies from Pierre Mendès France University in Grenoble and a master’s degree in economics of business and finance at Louis Pasteur University in Strasbourg. He also holds a certificate in sustainable finance from the University of Cambridge.
Mr Crelo will replace Wolfgang Proissl, who left the ESM on December 31, 2020 to take up the post of Director General of Communications at the European Central Bank.
