Project 007 – everything we know so far about IO Interactive’s James Bond game
Fans waiting for Project 007 from Hitman developer IO Interactive might be waiting a while to see their first look at the James Bond game.
In the Swedish developer’s latest annual report (spotted by GamesRadar), the team’s management gave a brief update on the studio’s outlook for the next few years.

“There is a risk that over the next two calendar years EBITDA and earnings will fall,” he said. “This is due to the long production phases ahead, before the next versions hit the market. Specifically, the estimates for FY24 and FY25 show a significant decrease.
Project 007 – expected release window and more
If we take these statements as they appear, it implies that IO Interactive does not plan to release any new games until fiscal 24/25.
As far as we currently know, the studio has no other new games in production. (It is currently, however, still focused on ongoing Hitman 3 post-launch support.)
If so, we probably shouldn’t wait for the 007 project before mid-end 2025. This is probably not the news James Bond fans wanted to hear. (But they wouldn’t want a rushed game either, of course.)
Project 007 – what we know so far; plot details and more
The 007 Project is not necessarily the final name of the James Bond game. The project was originally announced in November 2020 with the nickname as the working title.
As it stands, it won’t follow the plot of any of the existing movies or books. Rather, we were told in the announcement, it will be an “entirely original” origin story for the super-spy.
In fact, the press release claimed it would be “the first-ever James Bond origin story.” Plus, it has full support from MGM, Eon Productions, and Delphi to boot.

Currently, the film series is in a period of transition. Daniel Craig has hung up his jacket, and Eon Productions is actively looking for his replacement.
Whether the new actor will lend his likeness to his in-game counterpart, or if the new movie will be game-related – is currently unknown.
However, IO Interactive director Hakan Abrak previously said in January 2021 that the new game had no intention of “leaning on” an existing player at all.
Perhaps more exciting though, Abrak said he could “easily imagine a trilogy could come out of it.” So if the 007 project succeeds, the possibility of two more titles should give Bond fans something to shake (not stir) with excitement.
