Upcoming Netflix sci-fi thriller spider head wasn’t generating much buzz until very recently, and it’s all thanks to director Joseph Kosinski’s other brilliant 2022 blockbuster.

While the tron the legacy and Oversight The filmmaker’s work has always been characterized by lavish visuals, he phenomenally blended his stylistic sensibilities with an engaging narrative to deliver the awe-inspiring Top Gun: Maverickwhich broke box office records and won rave reviews on its way to becoming a top contender for awards season.

By extension, this has increased the pressure and expectations on the exclusive streaming, which arrives on Netflix next Friday. Based on the first wave of reactions, however, it looks like Kosinski’s incredible year is set to continue.

#Spiderhead is Joseph Kosinski’s second home run of the year, a disturbing atmospheric and claustrophobic thriller that’s a lot funnier/weirdier than the marketing suggests, led by a trio of standout performances (Chris Hemsworth is amazing) and a yacht rock soundtrack. pic.twitter.com/kXLNeYxMnE

by Joseph Kosinsky #Spiderhead does some clever stuff with its sharp, lean premise and has a good, dark fun exploring blossoming, character-driven twists. Miles Teller and Chris Hemsworth deliver solid work. The sleek production and costume design get top marks. Killer Score and Yacht Rock Soundtrack pic.twitter.com/3BE1Jzl361

After a rough start, #Spiderhead has an interesting concept about controlling the human body. The story is strong and the performances elevate the script. This is my favorite Hemsworth performance. Teller & Smollett were wonderful. This soundtrack is 🔥 and Kosinski delivers! pic.twitter.com/z8o9JAFrgx

#Spiderhead isn’t perfect but it’s still fascinating, asking big questions about clinical trials, drug addiction and the making of the chemicals that make us human. I’ve been mulling over SPIDERHEAD all day. It’s not a great movie, but there are some truly terrifying moments and thrills scattered throughout, a solid score and soundtrack, Miles Teller acting, and a raving Chris Hemsworth. More soon. #Spiderhead pic.twitter.com/nT5gk6J6qV

#Spiderhead intelligently examines the complexities and dangers of love, loss and regret. Hemsworth is a joy to watch as Jurnee and Miles’ performances provide an emotional depth to their characters that compels audiences to delve into the darkest secrets of their souls. pic.twitter.com/slrHJzs4KI

Seen #Spiderhead in theaters a few days ago. A cool sci-fi thriller that plays out almost like a super slick version of Black Mirror with a top notch cast. I mean that in a good way. Really appreciated.

The plot follows inmates Miles Teller and Jurnee Smollett, who are offered the chance to have their sentences shortened if they agree to participate in the trial of an experimental drug that possesses the ability to manipulate their feelings and generate emotions, all overseen by Chris Hemsworth. charming and disarming visionary Steve Abnesti.

Based on the first batch of responses, spider head has plenty of big ideas with the bombshell we’ve come to expect from Kosinski and Netflix’s big-budget original movies, so it’d be safe to assume subscribers will experience the dystopian tale in droves next weekend.

Thanks to the effects of the pandemic, Kosinski’s last two feature films come within weeks of each other despite filming nearly two and a half years apart, but at least it keeps his name at the forefront of conversation for a while. little longer.
